A Problem with Philosophy

A problem with philosophical theories is that they often cause us to compartmentalize our thoughts. We must remember they are simply human mechanisms used to sift out truths. We must use them to learn all we can about the art of thought, but then relinquish them and think for ourselves, uninhibited by the parameters of others. It is similar in art: to truly understand it and be in control of one’s own vision one must study the fundamental techniques developed through the ages. But remember that true mastery comes only when we cast those techniques to the side and let their permeated influence be but a stroke on our canvas
